Book Review: Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

Hello everyone. And welcome to the last Book Review for Vampire Academy (For Rose and Dimitri's epic love story, that is.) I am so excited to show you the book trailer I didn't even know existed. Where have I been? you might ask. Well let's just say, I righted my wrong and am now up to date.

Would you cast these actors for the upcoming Vampire Academy Movie? Why or why not? I want to know. So don't forget to comment.

Now, to the book review:
Photobucket
Rose Hathaway, is locked in Moroi jail after being framed in the cold-blooded murder of the Moroi Queen. The punishment for this crime is immediate execution. At the same time, she is faced with the challenge of somehow locating princess Lissa Dragomir's lone remaining relative, her secretly existing illegitimate sibling. Murder. Love. Jealousy. And the ultimate sacrifice. Now, with Rose on trial for her life and Lissa first in line for the Royal Throne, nothing will ever be the same between them.

Book Review:I've never been more terrified and elated to read the last book in a book series as I was with Vampire Academy. To know that once I finish the last page, I would no longer be filled with glorious, gut wrenthing anticipation for the next chapter in Rose and Dimitri's epic love story. But all good things must come to an end.

Richelle Mead did a fantastic job really bringing her main character, Rose, full circle with Dimiitri, Rose's love interest. Spirit Bound, the 5th book in the series, left the readers hanging with Dimitri's character in anguish over his feeling for Rose, his renewed transfromation, and his loyalty in question. So, with Last Sacrifice, Mead, had no choice but to tie up some pretty big loose ends. And I love her for that. Note: Some loose ends in this book are for the spin off I heard..Yay, spinoff!

Her game in the beginning was to get Rose out of the pickle she was in, in a very action packed, conspiracy kind of way, that really set the tone for the rest of the book, only to shove Rose right into that romantic pickle, we as readers couldn't wait to devour. When I say romantic pickle, I am talking Rose, Dimitri...and Adrian. Yes, a delicious, mouth watering, and crunchy pickle it was.

Then of course, there were some ends that had me saying, what? ...to easy. But it is what it is and I had a great time with it anyway.

Here is what I am getting at. I could not, would not, put the book down. I have never loved a book series so much to almost tear up. And as for the movie that is in slow motion at the moment, well it needs to get made pronto. I want others to know and love Rose and Dimitri's story and I do.

Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

Photobucket
Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead (489 pages)

WOW! Is all I can pretty much say about this book! I love, love, love, love, LOVE the Vampire Academy books! Plus this book totally took me 100% by suprise! Don't read any further, unless you don't mind a spoiler!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seriously...the queen is dead?! Immediately I am wondering...who done it, this is my guess, Tasha Ozera. I'm not really sure why I feel that way and may be completely wrong...but I'm gonna say it's her!
I was really sad about the whole Dimitri/Rose situation! I mean come on Dimitri seriously!? After all Rose did for you!! I feel really bad for Adrian though, poor guy is head over heels for a girl that just wont ever feel that way. Also, in my opinion Rose and Lissa's friendship just seems really strained. They have always been so close, and for the majority of this book they weren't even in the same area let alone room. I cannot wait for the next book, and I am really hoping it wraps up all the loose ends! This series still has a lot of books to produce, and they haven't disappointed me yet, I personally like them more (dare I say it?) then Twilight. I know shocker right :) If I could I would give this book like 10 hearts but I think 5 will get the point across =)
Okay on a side note, Karina and I had a "meeting" today and brainstormed for atleast a couple hours. Stay tuned for things such as "SINFUL SUNDAY" and BOOK COVER WARS etc. to may exciting things to list them all out here, your just going to have to stay tuned!!
Book Cover To Vampire Acadamy's 6th book, Last Sacrifice, has arrived!!
Finally! It's here, the cover to Richelle Mead's 6th and final book from the Vampire Academy Series.
Photobucket
Release date is December 7, 2010!!! (Note, RM's website said Dec. 14, but recently read book release was moved up a week.)
This book better end up tying all the lose ends in Dimitri and Rose's relationship; I have super high hopes for D and R. At the moment, I am sooo traumatized because of Spirit Bound :)
As for any spin-offs, I predict Adrian will have his own or at least be a big player in the next series because he has grown up so much in Spirit Bound and is such a lovable character, everyone wants him to be happy, just not with Rose. That's Dimitri's territory.
As for who Adrian ends up with, it will have to be in the next series assuming Richelle Mead isn't taking the 6th's book title literally. I mean that Rose better not even sacrifice her true love for Dimitri(who's in the middle of pity party) to be with Adrian, who is so loving and understanding, no offense to Team Adrian fans out there. I would not be able to comprehend that ending if it happens (crossing fingers). Nevertheless, as devoted fans of Vampire Academy, we would need closure for Adrian because he is such a big character, he'd have to appear in the next series.
I am so happy and very surprised that I only have to wait 5 months before Last Sacrifice hits stores. Isn't it usually a year before the next book comes out? It feels like that anyway when playing the waiting game for the next book.
Book Review: *Spoiler Alert* Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead
Photobucket
Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead (489 pages)
Synopsis: Rose Hathaway has been dreading the worst; to kill her true love, Dimitri, in order to stay alive and keep those she cares about safe. Yet, she holds out hope that the rumors of bringing Dimitri back to life are true. And there is only one person who can verify the rumors...Victor Dashkov, her archenemy.
Nothing will prepare Rose for the encounter with Dimitri or his transformation. Between her boyfriend, Adrian and Dimtri, she will have to decide who matters most to her. And in the end, is true love really worth the price?
Book Review: No book in the Vampire Academy series could have prepared me for what I consider to be the most heart pounding, gut wrenching part of Rose and Dimitri's epic love story.
I was under the assumption that if Dimitri was able to transform back into a dhampir, he would return as the confident, god like warrior we all fell in love with. But if that where the case, the story would have ended. Dimitri and Rose would have gotten back together and everyone would’ve been happy. Then there would be no 6th book called Last Sacrifice (I’ve heard the rumors).
In Spirt Bound, Dimitri came back from the dead. Mead, took the reader through this epic battle between the two lovers and towards the end, she gave the honors to Lissa to “save” Dimitri. During this time, she placed Rose on the sidelines to witness the transformation. This took me by surprise because in the previous book, Blood Promise, Mead led the reader to believe that Rose was the only one capable of killing Dimitri or “saving” him.
The gut wrenching part was in the way Mead illustrated Dimitri’s defeat and his vulnerability after his transformation. Any hopes of seeing the old Dimtri was shattered the moment he wept on Lissa’s lap. Also, while in captivity, he made the decision to ban Rose from his life forever, therefore, running away from his past rather than confronting it. His motives: unworthy of Rose, killings innocents and his many attempts on her life.
As a fan of Rose and Dimitri’s union, I couldn’t help but cringe at Rose’s failed attempts to rekindle their love. She was shown as desperate which was so not the ass-kicking Rose we have come to love, and all the while stringing Adrian Ivashov, her current boyfriend, through a majority of the book. At one point, Dimitri was pushed to make very clear his feelings for Rose, “love fades” he said. His gut wrenching declaration threw me back, literally breaking Rose’s heart and mine. Ouch.
Adrain Ivashkov became a big player in Spirit Bound. He first appeared in Frostbite with the same charming personality. But in this book, my perception of him changed. No matter how charming and love struck he was for Rose, I saw him solely as the rebound guy with no real prospects of ending up with her, especially with Dimitri back from the dead. Rose will end up breaking Adrian’s heart, which is sad because he is a really nice guy and he was beginning to grow on me.
As for the plot, it was stupendous and I was taken all over the place. Talk about a page-turner.
This book was so frustrating and gripping and insanely entertaining. There were moments of terror and insanity, love and heartache. The characters that I love made an appearance and made the story that much more meaningful.
I am a huge fan of Vampire Academy and I recommend Spirit Bound to everyone. I can't wait to read the 6th and final book of this amazing love story.
Book Review: Vampire Academy
Photobucket
This is my second time reading Vampire Academy and it was even better the second time.
Vampire Academy is about Rose, a seventeen year old half human and half vampire, destined to be a guardian for her best friend Lissa, a full-blooded vampire. After a two year hiatus, the girls are taken back to St. Vladimir's Academy, a vampire boarding school.  There, Rose and Lissa find them -selves to be the center of attention, not the good kind. Between them, they have this intense bond  that only Rose can interpret though feelings, images and occasional outer body experiences, seeing through Lissa's very eyes.  All the while, intense and dire feelings surface between Rose and her mentor, Dimitri, a god like guardian, hired to protect Lissa from Stigoi (evil vampires who kill for blood) while Rose is given a second chance to continue her studies to become a guardian. Little do they know the one person Lissa has trusted for so long has become there enemy.
Of all the vampire novels I have come to read, due to a friend and coworker, never have I encountered such an explosive, independent and wild heroin.  Rose is the tough girl, party animal, loyal til death do us part, kind of girl you want in your corner at all times.  She has an incredible sense of loyalty and duty to her best friend but she also understands that if she is to be her guardian, Rose will have to let go of her teen bopper ways.  No more trips to the mall to try on clothes, or drinking at after parties or starting fights.  She has come to realize that with just one unprotected move, she could endanger Lissa life.
Richelle Mead has created a fantastic showcase of characters in Vampire Academy.  Every character had a purpose and fulfilled their roles when thrown in the spotlight, along the way, building intense relationships between the characters allowing the readers to connect and feel what they feel moment to moment.  I absolutely love this book and would recommend the book to all.
Love it!
