Book Review: Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

PhotobucketSynopsis:
Nora should have known her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described as anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy, Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.
Book Review: Crescendo was a book that I felt really anxious about reading even before I turned to read the first page. I remember the way Hush, Hush had me feeling, I just wasn't sure I wanted to go through it again. Nevertheless, I made the choice to chug along; Patch and Nora's story got the better of me ;)

Well to my suprise, I got into my reading groove almost immediately. So the hook in the beginning was pretty great. As for the meat of the story (Nora, Patch and Marcie) I really began to dislike Patch all over again, like in Hush, Hush. I began to think he was a total jerk and was guilty of everything Nora accused him of. And as for Marcie, I felt Vee, as Nora's best friend, should have stuck up for Nora in many instances.

I was pleasantly surprised to read that Nora decided to take care herself as well as Marcie.

As for the book as a whole, there were very interesting plot twists that had me saying "oh" and "no way", the pages turned themselves.

Crescendo as done it again for me. Patch was literally on the end of my boot to kick to the curb until Becca Fitzpatrick sprinkled her charming words on him, that my whole impression of him warmed up.

Bottom Line:  This love story was really great to read and just as dark as Hush Hush if not a little darker. New characters emerged and took some of the spotlight from Nora and Patch. I am a true fan of Becca's and I can't wait to read the third installment "Silence" to be coming soon.

This is the cover of Becca Fitzpatrick's sequel to Hush, Hush; released April 10, 2010.

The lightening in the background was Becca's idea and which by the way is a great addition to the cover.

Here is a little synopsis from amazon.

Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.

The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

For those of you who are still thinking about maybe reading Hush, Hush, I'd say you better get to it because it is not only a brilliant paranormal YA story but you will fall in love with at least one character if not, all of them. My one wish, if I had only one, with out dealing with a genie, it would be to have Hush, Hush made into a movie. If they can do movies with werewolves and vampires, I know the studios can drum up a couple of angelic wings, right?

To all of the Book Lovers Delight followers, thanks so much for your patience. Elizabeth and I have been focused on a few life changing "situations" and we are super excited about them. I promise you we will get back into blogging our awesome reads to share with all of you.

We'd also would like to hear from you; what you have been reading lately and what you have on your nightstand at this moment you just can't wait to read.

Book Review: Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Photobucket

Sixteen-year old Nora Grey is partnered in biology with new student Patch, and she starts seeing things she cannot explain. At first she's both drawn and repelled by her lab partner, but when she sees V-shaped scars on his back, Nora learns Patch is more than she bargained for.

I read Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick and I would like to thank Ramblings of a Teenage Bookworm and Michelle's Bookshelf
for this. Your reviews had me at "Patch".

I can't tell you how many times I have seen the cover of Hush Hush. I mean the cover was literally every where so I went to some of my favorite blogs to get myself educated quick and figure out what this book was all about. I read the reviews and couldn't for the life of me figure out why I waited so long to read it. It sounded so good and this Patch character had me very intrigued. Soooooo, I found myself a copy and read it top to bottom.

Wow! Let me tell you. The very introduction of Patch had me feeling butterflies. He was described as this tall, lean muscled, black haired walking mystery. And he had this cocky persona and a sexy grin that would make female readers furious one minute and gulping hard for fresh air the next. I loved the character Patch. His character had so much to offer the reader. With every chapter I had to analyze his real intentions towards Nora. Was he a good guy or a bad guy? Every encounter of theirs had my pulse racing.

With Nora, a cute and curly haired brunette with good grades and high expectations, I liked how her perfect world became interesting and worth fighting for when Patch disrupted it. The internal struggles she had to deal with on a day to day basis that stemmed from Patch's appearance in her life was so alluring, she had me scratching my head with her. Nora's character was so much fun to follow and had me rooting for her every step of the way.

Becca Fitzpatrick did an incredible job creating deep connections from character to reader. She made me care about Patch and Nora. I recommend this book to all!

This book, along with Patch, won my heart and all 5 hearts below!

Love it!
