Lover Avenged & Lover Mine By J.R. Ward

So I finished Lover Avenged and Lover Mine a few weeks ago, and have been so busy with other books I haven't had a chance to write my reviews. This one is going to be short, because like past reviews on this series we all know I LOVE THEM!

I really enjoyed Rehv's story and how it's tied into the brotherhood. Rehvenge is this totally badass guy who lives this secret life that only a select few know about. I also enjoyed Ehlena she is one of my favorite shellens. This book had a wonderful story line that has kept evolving through each book and keeps getting better. I don't want to ruin anything for anyone on the book, so your just going to have to trust me when I say READ IT!!!

PhotobucketAbout the book: Caldwell, NY, has long been the battleground for the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It’s also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and notorious nightclub that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he’s approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King, and leader of the Brotherhood.
Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood, even though his sister is married to a member. Because he’s a sympath, his identity is a deadly secret - the revelation of which will result in his banishment to a colony for sociopaths. As plots within and outside the Brotherhood take their toll against Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in a darkening world- Elhena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him - and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.

I have been waiting and waiting for John and Xhex's book! I was so excited to finally be able to read it! This book was heartbreaking and amazing all in one. Their connection has been building and building all through the books. Xhex is totally badass and no one tells her how or what to do. I'm really interested to see where Qhuinn and Blay end up story wise....now that will be interesting to see if it goes where I think it might lol.
PhotobucketSynopsis: In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other - vampire warriors, defenders of their race...John Matthew has been through his vampire transition and taken to the life of the Brotherhood with a vengeance, but he still can't shake the nightmare of his past and is unsure of his future as a warrior hero. He's made a promise to honour the Brotherhood and their fight with the slayers at all costs, until the love of his life is kidnapped and he is forced to make a choice that could change his life and the Brotherhood's forever...

Both of these are must reads...and totally smutty!

Black Dagger Brotherhood By JR Ward

Photobucket

I've been reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward. I don't want to bombard you with a book review for each book (since I feel the same about each of the books thus far) so I decided I would combine them. I really like the series, however I suggest not reading them back to back. The story line has similarities in each book, however each has it's twists. Each Brother is there own and has there own issues I got the following from http://www.jrward.com/bdb/

Wrath: the last purebred vampire on the planet and the vampire race's king. Essentially blind, he is the leader who is not willing to lead until he is forced to care for a half-breed he falls in love with.

Rhage: the strongest of the brothers and the best fighter. Cursed by the Scribe Virgin, he is possessed by a dark side which is a danger to everyone. Ultimately, though, he is gentled by a very special human woman.

Zsadist: the most lethal of the brothers. A former blood slave who was mercilessly tortured during the first hundred years of his life, Z is the one who has fallen farthest from grace. But he is utterly worthy of redemption.

Phury: the loyal one, the one who sacrifices himself for others. Phury is Zsadist's twin brother and a celibate who cannot truly live because of everything his biological brother has lost. Used to giving rather than receiving, he needs love coming back at him to bring him alive.

Vishous: the most intelligent and the one who is specially gifted. His curse is his ability to prognosticate: he sees the future, though not the 'when' of events so he is tortured by his inability to save those he loves from danger. His love puts him at odds with a secret about himself he did not know and could never have guessed.

Tohrment: the steady one, the calm one. He is the one whose betrayal by fate will cut the deepest.

I really do appreciate these books for the story line, I do wish that there would be a little more story and a lot less of the sexual aspect (guess that's what I get for reading romance). I say this series is worth reading, but these books really are made for adults, however if you can get past some parts they story line is really good

Lover Eternal By J.R. Ward

Photobucket

I can admit when I am wrong so I have to say that I gave this book another chance and ended up loving it. Rhage is this "monster" of sorts and Mary is slowly dying of cancer...who would have known that they ended up falling in love? I don't want to give away any parts of the book to ya'll so I'm going to keep this on a general level. When I started reading this book I had JUST finished the first one of the series. This book is the same type of story..actually the whole series thus far is the same type of story line...however the characters themselves are what make these books great. They each have there own little things that make them "who they are" and that combined with a fairytale Romeo and Juliet type of love is what make these books amazing ...smutty yes...but amazing!

Lover Eternal J.R. Ward

Photobucket

Synopsis
In Caldwell, New York the vampires and their slayers are engaged in their eternal struggle for dominance. For the vampires it is a battle for the survival of their species. For their slayers, the lessers, it is the whole purpose of existence.

The lessers were once human. After showing an aptitude for murder (and generally being all round nasty men) they are recruited into the Lessening Society where they lose their souls but gain the freedom to torture and murder vampires. Once they are inducted into the Lessening Society they no longer need to eat, drink or have sex and they also no longer age. The lessers are in the service of the Omega a brutal pain loving mystical figure who hates vampires and wants them to be wiped off the face of the earth.

The vampires have been hunted to the brink of extinction. Vampires are a separate species from humans and although they live longer than humans the average vampire has no superpowers. The vampires have their own deity, the Scribe Virgin, who is the creator of their species.

The only thing stopping the annihilation of the vampires is the Black Dagger Brotherhood, a highly trained band of vampire warriors, who have been the product of centuries of selective breeding amongst the vampires. The Brothers have super strength and superior healing abilities which they need as they are never far from a fight.

Rhage is a member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. He is highly aggressive, one of their best fighters, but suffers under a terrible curse that the Scribe Virgin has laid upon him. The curse means that Rhage is possessed by a monstrous beast whenever his anger is out of control.

Mary is a human who stumbles into the vampire world by chance at a time when her own world has been turned upside down by the end of the remission of her cancer. Once Rhage sees Mary he wants to meet her again but lessers, his fellow Brothers and Mary’s illness are just some of the obstacles in his path. Luckily he’s not a man who gives up easily.

Personally..I was disappointed. This book seemed just like Dark Lover, same story just different characters. The characters needed to have more differences, the story line was the same. Dangerous guy going after innocent girl and they fall in love. I wish that Ward would have expanded more on the characters. I wouldn't read this book again.

NOTHING SPECIAL

Dark Lover By J.R. Ward

Photobucket

Synopsis:

"The only purebred vampire left on the planet, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But when one of his most trusted fighters is killed- orphaning a half-breed daughter unaware of her heritage or her fate - Wrath must usher the beautiful female into the world of the undead…

Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn't there before, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously sexy man who comes to her at night with shadows in his eyes. His tales of brotherhood and blood frighten her. But his touch ignites a dawning hunger that threatens to consume them both…"

I just finished reading Dark Lover by J.R. Ward, the first books in the Black Dagger Brotherhood. While it was a quick read for me,  it was well worth my time. The book begain with a glossary of terms used in the book and there meanings, which was very helpful at times. Wrath and Beth were the main characters in this book, and being that it was a romance book there were a lot of passionate scenes, all of which fit well into the book. They weren't there just to be there or to fill in spots of the book.  The characters were all well written and played an important part in the book. The reader gets a good sense of the all the characters and some of them even suprise you! J.R. Ward wrote this book wonderfully and I am excited to read more of her books.
